As a reward & as a fun excursion, Kevin Lyman of the Vans Warped Tour sent the most eco friendly members of the 2011 festival: band, stage manger, non-profit tent, tour manager, ect to Zihuatanejo Mexico to help baby turtles reach the sea at Playa Viva.

There we took newly hatched turtles and helped them get past questionable crabs and daunting seagulls and helped point them in the right direction when heading the wrong way. Over the grand 3 day experience our team helped 1,500 turtles. It was wonderful. Thank you David & Julia, Johnny & Stella of Playa Viva and thank you Kevin.

On July 25th, Warped spent a day off from tour working with Blue Water Baltimore at the Academy for College & Career Exploration, in Hampden, MD. More than 100 Warped staff, bands and local volunteers worked together to dug up a lot behind the school to create a green space full of conservation landscaping that can not only be used as an beautiful outdoor classroom, but will also help to ensure that groundwater stays as clean as possible.

We recently checked in with our partners in Maryland, and wanted to share some photos of the space before and after!! Since we were there - students have continued the effort, planting trees, perennials and next month will dig a rain garden. Congrats and great work everyone!!

National nonprofit Natural High will be honoring NaturalHigh.TV celeb Cassadee Pope (Hey Monday) at its 11th annual Sunset Splash Gala on October 28th in La Jolla, CA.

During Vans Warped Tour of last year Pope revealed during an interview that her group of friends in high school were “crazy with drugs”. The lively songstress did not want to be associated with that kind of stuff and continued to make a career in mainstream music. “I have to worry about waking up everyday, singing everyday and drinking every night would probably dry out my vocal chords,” she told us.

Check out the full story HERE and Cassadee's Warped Tour Natural High interview from 2010 below

In Ventura they collected 4,395 pounds of food for FoodShare. In Toronto Homeward Family Shelter o/a Julliette's Place, said it was their largest single donation in 21 years of operation! The tour ended in Oregon where the charity Community Action received around 4 thousand pounds of food and assorted random items they can really use from everyone on the tour.

Nathan has updated numbers from the road on what each Warped shows' fans have donated to the Feed Our Children NOW! tent located in front of each stop's main entrance

Warped fans are really stepping up and with the economy as it is, your efforts make a huge difference in peoples' lives. In fact we just received a note from the director of Julliette’s Place, a shelter in Toronto that provides a safe place for those seeking refuge from abusive homes.

According to them "The amount of food that was collected on July 15, 2011 was the single largest donation we have ever received in Julliette’s Place history and we have been in operation for the last twenty-one years. This food will serve alot of women and children in the coming months"

Pretty great stuff, let's keep it up!!
