DJ Nicola Bear
Fresh from summer appearances at Benicassim, Ibiza Rocks (resident DJ) and Unknown Festivals, style icon Nicola Bear has been back in the UK this autumn with appearances across the UK indie-party circuit as well as one-off European bookings. A refusal to typecast her sound means Nicola can be relied on to get dance floors jumping to a vast array of sounds - simply whatever pops into her encyclopaedic musical mind.
Unfazed by the big stage Nicola has warmed up for major acts including Foals and Biffy Clyro as well as alongside the likes of Disclosure and 2ManyDJs. This sultry star-in-the-making has played to sell-out shows of up to three thousand people for Radio 1 and Ibiza Rocks, with crowds dancing to her riffs & beats as they soak up the events' atmospheres. Undisputed first lady at the pioneering Balearic concerts, she effortlessly switches between genres to get bodies moving to indie, hip-hop, rock, dubstep, drum n bass or whatever else might pop into her encyclopaedic musical mind. She's also no stranger to smaller, VIP style events, working with brands such as Skins, Top Shop and Company Magazine in the past.
A move into production was always on the cards for an individual with such a flair for taste making. At the end of 2012 her remix of Ima Read by Zebra Katz was signed to Mad Decent and a reworking of hotly tipped Nottingham act OneGirlOneBoy's debut single was out in March 2013. Other artists whose tracks she has added her own inimitable style to already include The Milk, Deelite, Desire and Reverend & The Makers.
As well as her music, Nicola's 'look' earns more than passing glances, as she gives audiences a glimpse of the eye-catching fashion she passionately reports on. Known for picking up on the hottest brands and labels, her blog "We Listen To Bear Music" is often one step ahead of the latest trends.
Nicola refuses to typecast her style, instead drawing from her huge range of influences as she sees fit. The results are always exhilarating and in the past twelve months Nicola has plied her trade at Tramlines, Hideout, WHP, Touch The Wood in Rome and legendary indie night Burn Down The Disco.
